It’s time to buckle down, and make up your mind! MAKEUP your mind, that is, because we’re talking beauty here.
Let me add a little disclaimer for you beauticians reading: I do not work for ULTA, and this post is not sponsored by ULTA. It is simply fueled by my love for great deals and beauty. 🙂
ULTA Beauty Rewards + Makeup Freebies
ULTA offers a rewards program,(Ultamate Rewards) another one of those where you sign up for free, earn points, and get free treats! The freebies alone make signing up for the emails worth it! They send you a birthday gift for your birth month, and sometimes TWO birthday gifts, depending on your rewards “status” how many points you earn.
Keep in mind, you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to rack up the points. Just keep an eye out for special emails, such as “earn 5x the points”, and shop during those special times. A $30 purchase will earn you 190 points! You can redeem those points for store purchases.
Now that I’m done yapping about that, let’s move on to the goodies: FREEBIES! In ULTA’s weekly emails, there is almost always a little notice, “FREE ___ “. Sometimes it requires a purchase, other times you can just walk in and get a free item!
Here’s a peek at some of the best freebies I’ve scored from ULTA’s emails. These range from lip gloss to mascara, eye shadow and even high-end hair products.
Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly
I’m starting with the best here. I LOVE THIS LIP POLISH!!! I didn’t even know cosmetic polish existed outside of nail polish. Now I love it!
It’s plumping, it’s tasty, it smells great, and it tingles! This lip polish has a cooling, tingling sensation when I put it on my lips. If I’m not eating or snacking (i.e. if I put this on after breakfast and before I go in to work), it lasts about 1-2 hours. It might react differently depending on your lip size and texture, but it works like a charm for me.
stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in perla
This was a pleasant surprise. I’ve never used liquid lipstick before. I will definitely try more products like this one. This lipstick glides on perfectly and it dries quickly. After I applied the lipstick, I had about 10 seconds to correct any mistakes, and then BAM! It dried perfectly on my lips.
The perla has a nice, soft POP of pink. It’s on the border of a frosted purple. The color is a little 90’s-esque, so I make sure I wear this only when it matches my top or my makeup.
ULTA Beauty Tinted Eye Primer in Champagne
This baby contains no oil and no fragrance. Woo! Plain and simple. It’s a nice switch from the Urban Decay primer I usually use. ULTA’s primer gives me a nice shimmery, pinkish-golden palette to begin my eye makeup mayhem. I use this primer when I wear shimmery shades to make these jump out even more.
ULTA Beauty Eye Shadow in Valentine
One of the novelties I really liked about this freebie was that I could choose my eye shadow color! Most of these products and the shades are chosen for you, so it was nice to be able to have a choice. Either way, I can’t complain – it’s free!
I originally walked in the store with intentions of getting an olive green shade. The store was out of olive green, so I chose this SUPER sparkly, light brown shade. And I’m glad I did!
I use this eye shadow as the very top layer when I’m finished with all of my other shimmery shades. I’ll usually top off my eyelids, and if I’m feeling “craaaazy”, I’ll dab a little bit of this in the corners of my eyes.
If I don’t have time for the whole makeup routine, I’ll just dab a bit on my eyelids just above my eyeliner to add a little sparkle. The shadow really helps play up the eyes and complements any eye shadow (or non-shadow!).
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
They weren’t kidding with their tagline, “BIGGER. BLACKER. BADDER.” My li’l lashes get a nice, full boost with this mascara. My friends and family say I have long lashes, but since my lashes are blonde at the tips, it’s hard to tell! This mascara is a great item to complement the peepers.
tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
The Urban Decay mascara expands my lashes. The tarte mascara defines my lashes. I switch off from Urban Decay and tarte to keep my eyes on their…toes? On their lashes?
My only “complaint” (I can’t complain because it was free!) is the dark black color. I prefer brown ‘scara for my lighter features, and I wear dark brown eyeliner since it works best with my skin tone. But this product does its job, and I would recommend it!
benefit The POREfessional Face Primer
This is another fun item that I NEVER tried! Please do not pass out when you read this line. I have never used a face primer in my life.
I tried foundation and powders in the past. But my skin is very oily, so it cracks or melts off foundation early on in the day. I don’t wear foundation, so I’ve taken a liking to a light layer of CoverGirl powder for everyday use.
The POREfessional face primer was my birthday “gift” from ULTA. I don’t use it every day, BUT I use it at least 3 out of my 5 work days during the week. It’s gentle enough to squeeze onto my finger and dab it on my t-zone. My shine disappears, and my pores shrink! I apply one veeeery thin layer of CoverGirl powder on top of that, and I’m ready to walk out the door.
DevaCurl Low-Poo Delight Weightless Waves Mild Lather Cleanser
I get my hair cut and styled at ULTA, and I shop there, so it pays off. I found a nice stylist a few years ago. My hair is very difficult to work with, so I am thankful to find consistency and trust with a stylist.
She recommended I try DevaCurl products since my hair is very thick and curly. Lucky enough, I received an email coupon for a free DevaCurl travel-size cleanser one week. I WAS HOOKED! I bought a full bottle once I ran out of the freebie, and I haven’t turned back since then.
First of all, DevaCurl smells AMAZING. Sometimes I sneak in an extra hair rinse just so I can add a little more in my hair and smell it for the rest of the day. Second, it. will. define. curls. The DevaCurl cleanser is cruelty-free (I used to search for the bunny symbol on beauty products when I was younger).
The cleanser also promotes healthy hair with its rice protein (body and fullness), chia-flaxseed extract blend (curl definition), lotus flower, and other flower + tea extracts.
Makeup your mind already!
Now that you have the inside scoop, sign up for ULTA emails. You can rack up points pretty quickly by keeping an eye out for their double and triple points days. Sometimes they even offer 5 times the points! That’s a great time to try the salon or buy that palette you’ve been “eyeing.”
Pretty soon, you’ll be cashing in for some serious doe…eyed shadow.
Let me know if you find any great freebies in the meantime, and check out my beauty hacks!
